Oblomov - Russian Novel

Yesterday i got a chance to go through a review of a Novel written by Ivan Goncharov in the year 1858. The review was written by S.Ramakrishnan renowned tamil writer in the modern days. The article was found in UYIRMAI which is one of the tamil sitrithazh(Means magazine read by a very little number of people). Given his name in the index, i decided to go on for it. And it was a wonderful review, which starts with tastavoski, tolstoy and some other Russian writers during the same period and finally get into the novel. And one very interesting point was given related to this novel. In Russia, the people use the Oblovian as an adjective, or oblomov as an example to refer people who are lazy and do not fo any work. And this has proven the impact of the novel among the Russian. It has not gotten the wide publicity given the fact that no good translation was available till sometime back. And now it's available in a good english translation.

Goncharov was said to be named competitor during the perios of tastavoski and tolstoy by themselves. Given the fact that the great work of litereay will be regaognized only after the death of the writer, same thing happened in the case of this eminent writer. After reading the review i decided to read the novel. So you???
